GCBC: from the website to your first cited answer

Every step below was run on the shipped app by the check that guards this page; the first answer quotes your own file and names the lines.

1. Pick a plan

Open gcbc.reaveslabs.ai and choose Individual, Professional or Elite. The price of each plan is on the page, read from the same offer the checkout uses.

2. Read the email

After checkout an email titled "Your GCBC license key" arrives. It holds your license key (a long block that starts with GCBC1.), a License ID for support (not the key), who it is licensed to, how many seats you can grant, the term, a download link with its checksum, and license.json attached as a second copy of the same license.

3. Download and open the zip

Download the zip from the link in the email and double-click it. You get three things: GCBC, GCBC for Windows and Start Here.pdf. Drag GCBC into your Applications folder.

4. Open GCBC

Double-click GCBC. It is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS checks it and lets it open. The first time, macOS may ask you to confirm that you want to open an app you downloaded.

5. The welcome page opens

Your browser opens a page headed Welcome to GCBC, with a box for your key and an Activate button. The page is served by GCBC on this computer only.

6. Paste your key

Copy the key from your email, paste it into the box and click Activate. It is checked on this computer against the key built into GCBC, and the page says Activated.

7. Answer the eight setup questions

Reload the page. It is headed Before the board: eight questions, about your company, domain and first outcome. Answer them and click Save and open the board.

8. Add your documents

On the board, click Add documents… and choose a folder. GCBC reads every file it can in that folder; a progress bar shows how far it has got, and the status line says Done. with the counts when the index is ready.

9. Ask your first question

Type a question into the ask bar and press Enter. The answer is a passage quoted from your document, word for word, with the file name and line numbers beside it, marked your document.

10. Ask something your files do not hold

Ask about something that is not in your documents. GCBC declines instead of guessing, so every answer it does give can be checked against the file it names.
